Poetry in Motion

One of my favorite places to catch poetry in motion is on Madison Street across from the Civic Opera House.

Last night I was drawn there (subconsciously, I speculate). I spent a few minutes taking photos, playing with shutter speed.

My MO is to shoot in black and white and process in color. I just love how this one looks in b&w though. What do you think?

Long Grove

When I woke up at my uncle’s in Barrington last Friday on a day of scheduled PTO, I had a plan to shoot. But where?

The light hit me through the blinds. I thought, “why not Long Grove?”

Northwest of Chicago, Long Grove is quaint, historic, and lately … rather quiet. It’d recently snowed so I figured it’d be beautiful, and I’d been shooting people and the streets of Chicago a lot. I welcomed the slower pace.

Here are my favorite photos of the walk. All images were taken with the Sony a6000 using the Sigma 30mm, and edited in Lightroom and VSCO.

Floral Fog

Last night Tricia and I met with a salesperson at Steve’s Flower Market to discuss floral arrangements for our March 2019 wedding. Of course, I had to get some shots first! The fog on the windows at blue hour really made the storefront look special.

All images taken with my Sony a6000 using the Sigma 30mm, and edited in Lightroom and VSCO. These are some of my favorite photos yet.

Weekend Wanderings

If felt good to be out-and-about last weekend after being under the weather for over a week. Most photos were taken with my Apple iPhone X; some were taken with my Sony a6000 using the 30mm Sigma. All photos were edited in Lightroom and VSCO.

Fall on Fullerton

En route to the Gold Coast, one of my favorite neighborhoods to walk through and make photos, I was struck by an idea as quickly as Chicago’s latest Fall downpour came and went.

Why not explore a new block?

Sure, I’d driven, run, walked and Uber’ed through this Fullerton and Clark area of Lincoln Park hundreds of times before. But never before like this, with a camera and a mindful eye. I’m glad I listened to my hunch.

All photos were taken with my Sony a6000 using a Sigma 30mm lens, and edited in Adobe Lightroom and VSCO mobile.
