A born-again documentary photographer, Kevin Baum grew up in Chicago’s Northwest Suburb of Wheeling, IL.

A “creative kid,” and an avid writer and movie watcher, he decided to try his hand at the camera and enrolled in an Intro to Photography class while in high school.

Admittedly, he didn’t care much for the medium then. The film development process took too long; the pinhole camera was too primitive. It wasn’t until the winter of 2017-2018 that he fell for the art and began to take it seriously.

Self-taught and primarily shooting digital color, Kevin Joseph’s vision is unique. His photographic style is defined by his eye for movement, light, and composition, the ability to evoke emotion, and his compassion for the city and its people. An urban documentarian, his influences include Joel Meyerowitz, Vivian Maier, Alex Webb, and others.
